MISSION STATEMENT

Camp Pardas Chanah is a Lubavitch girls’ sleep-away camp committed to providing a positive camping experience for youngsters aged 7-14 in a warm and nurturing Chassidische environment.  Under the directorship of Rabbi Avrohom and Dinie Gurary, located in the beautiful Laurentian mountains of Quebec, Camp Pardas Chanah encourages campers’ social, emotional, and spiritual growth while offering a myriad of exciting activities.

About Camp...

Camp Pardas Chanah is a Lubavitch girls’ sleep-away camp located in Val David, in the beautiful Laurentian mountains of Quebec, about an hour’s drive from Montreal.  Divided into two sessions of one month each, the camp welcomes approximately 150 campers per session.

Founded in 1971 by Rabbi Y. L. Kramer, under the leadership of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Camp Pardas Chanah is committed to providing a positive, specialized Jewish camping experience.  Originally servicing youngsters from Montreal and surrounding areas, the camp now welcomes campers from several countries.  After numerous changes in camp management, Pardas Chanah has been flourishing under the directorship of Rabbi Avrohom and Dinie Gurary since 2002. 

Taking pride in the warm and nurturing environment and being in tune with campers’ social, physical and emotional needs, the camp’s caring and knowledgeable staff ensure that each camper is cherished.

Campers attend daily classes with our Rabbi.  The girls study Chitas and recite daily Brochas, and earn points and prizes for learning.  The youngsters have the opportunity to rate themselves and their spiritual growth by completing daily rate sheets.  The girls are thrilled when they watch themselves and their friends evolve spiritually.

The camp features twelve bunkhouses, two heated pools, a cozy private lake, basketball and volleyball courts, a welcoming dining room, and nutritious, Glatt meals and snacks.

Some of the camp’s activities include: swimming, kayaking, drama, dance, choir, sports leagues, and Arts & Crafts.  Some of the more creative activities are glass painting, jewelry making, calligraphy, gardening, and papier-maché.  During the summer, the girls perform plays, enjoy music and guitar lessons, learn to appreciate the great outdoors during Science & Nature, and perfect culinary skills with baking, chocolate molding, and food decorating classes.

Each session includes weekly day trips.  In past years, the campers have gone bowling and strawberry picking, hiked in the beautiful outdoor nature reserve at Centre d’Educatif, jumped on trampolines at Gym-Ex, spent a thrilling day at La Ronde, and splashed at the Mont-St-Sauveur Water-Park.  Other trips for teen campers include rock-climbing, hiking through the lush mountains of the Laurentians, Acro-branching, and white-water rafting.  As well, older campers enjoy overnight trips to Ottawa, Quebec City, New Hampshire or Lake George.

One of the more anticipated activities at camp Pardas Chanah are “Specialty Days”, where fantastic worlds are re-created just for our girls.  We have gone back hundreds of years on Shtetl Day, enjoyed lively and colourful Carnival Day, competed in a friendly manner (where everyone is a winner!) during Colour War and Field Days, and prepared ourselves for the much anticipated and universally longed-for Moshiach Day.

Rabbi Avrohom and Dinie Gurary are committed to the ongoing development of the camp with the following goals for the next several years:

• Renovation of existing bunks and construction of new units
• Winterizing the dining room
• Creation of a year-round retreat which will include a games room, luxurious dining hall, kitchen, and guest rooms.
• New Kosher kitchen
• Full-fledged teen camp with separate dining room
• 10th greade program
• Gazebos
• More indoor activity areas for inclement weather

About our Teen Program

Camp Pardas Chanah offers a teen program for girls finsihing Grade 8. This highly specialize program is unique in many ways. Below you will find a general outline of what our program includes.

• Teen program director - plans special activities for campers with their age and preferences in mind
• Chassidishe counselors providing growth B'gashmius and B'ruchnius
• Special trips which include kayaking, white water rafting, rock climbing, nature, overnights, rope courses, and more.
